Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Fri): explore the world behind art at The Hakone Open-Air Museum and then cool off at Hakone Kowakien Yunessun. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), contemplate the long history of Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu, then get a new perspective on nature at Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History, and finally get great views at Hakone Ropeway.

Once a small fishing town, Yokohama was one of the first ports to welcome foreign trade in the 19th century, after which it grew into Japan's second largest city and a bustling metropolis.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Sun): take a stroll through Minato Mirai 21, then wander the streets of Yokohama Chinatown, and then get curious at Yokohama Science Center.

Do a combination of bus and train from Hakone-machi to Yokohama in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Hakone-machi in November, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Yokohama: temperatures range from 19°C by day to 12°C at night. On the 17th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
