Kagoshima sits across the bay from Sakurajima, an active volcano that serves as a symbol of the city and works its way into many aspects of life here.
On the 21st (Mon), take in the pleasant sights at Sengan-en and then pause for some photo ops at Saigo Takamori Statue. On your second day here, take an in-depth tour of Chiran Peace Museum, then contemplate the geological forces at Sakurajima, and then admire the landmark architecture of Tsukiyomi Shrine.
