Nestled in the shadows of the Chugoku Mountains, historic Izumo boasts one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Tue): contemplate the waterfront views at Shinji Lake, enjoy the sand and surf at Inasa Beach, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Izumo Taisha Shrine. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: contemplate the long history of Former Taisha Station, enjoy the sea views from Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse, admire the landmark architecture of Izumotaisha mae Station, then step into the grandiose world of Matsue Castle, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Yaegaki Shrine.
