Chioggia is a coastal town and comune of the Metropolitan City of Venice in the Veneto region of northern Italy.GeographyThe town is situated on a small island at the southern entrance to the Lagoon of Venice about 25km south of Venice (50km by road); causeways connect it to the mainland and to its frazione, nowadays a quarter, of Sottomarina. Get a sense of the local culture at Pomposa Abbey and Castello Cini Monselice. Explore Chioggia's surroundings by going to Trepponti (in Comacchio), Arqua Petrarca (Casa del Petrarca & Azienda Agricola Loreggian) and Garden of Villa Barbarigo in Valsanzibio (in Valsanzibio). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Villa Pisani National Museum, take in the waterfront at Diga Sottomarina, get engrossed in the history at Museo Civico della Laguna Sud, and explore the galleries of Castello del Catajo.

For where to stay, photos, more things to do, and tourist information, you can read our Chioggia trip planner.

In February in Chioggia, expect temperatures between 11°C during the day and 5°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
