The capital of Wales, Cardiff is a very green city indeed, boasting more green space per person than any other place in the country.
Venture out of the city with trips to Folly Farm (in Begelly), Rhossili Bay (in Rhossili) and Swansea (Dylan Thomas Birth Place, Gower Peninsula, & more). Porthmadog, known locally as "Port", and since 1974, rendered into Welsh from its former Anglicised form, Portmadoc, is a small coastal town and community in the Eifionydd area of Gwynedd, in Wales. Change things up with these side-trips from Porthmadog: Caernarfon (Beacon Climbing Centre & Caernarfon Castle), Barmouth (St. John's Church, Barmouth Bridge, & more) and Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve (in Bethesda). There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Snowdon, explore the historical opulence of Harlech Castle, explore the different monuments and memorials at St Gwyddelan's Church, and head outdoors with Dragon Raiders Activity Park.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Holyhead: Beaumaris Castle (in Beaumaris), Dwyran (Newborough Beach & Anglesey Riding Centre) and Newborough Warren & Ynys Llanddwyn (in Newborough).
