Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Explore Budapest's surroundings by going to Eger (Gardonyi Geza Emlekmuzeum, Eger Castle, &more). And it doesn't end there: get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), pause for some photo ops at Heroes' Square, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Matthias Church.

Vienna, Austria to Budapest is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also fly; or take a train. In May in Budapest, expect temperatures between 25°C during the day and 11°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Tue) to allow time to fly to Krakow.

One of Poland's oldest cities, Krakow sits at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, its historical town center nestled on the left bank of the Vistula River.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Krakow: Pieniński Park Narodowy (in Szczawnica), Ojcow National Park (Grota Lokietka (King's Lokietek Cave) & Jaskinia Ciemna (Dark Cave)) and Oswiecim (Muzeum Zamek w Oswiecimiu, Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, &more). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Wawel Cathedral, explore the galleries of Muzeum Krakowa, oddzial Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera, get the lay of the land with Walking tours, and shop like a local with Sukiennice (Cloth Hall).

Traveling by flight from Budapest to Krakow takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Budapest, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Krakow, ranging from highs of 22°C to lows of 9°C. Prague lures millions of tourists each year with its World Heritage-listed medieval city center--a labyrinth of narrow lanes, bridges, cathedrals, and palaces overlooked by a thousand-year-old castle.
Step out of Prague to go to Louny and see Kostel svatého Mikuláše, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's lots more to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Staromestske namesti, get engrossed in the history at Jewish Museum in Prague, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Vitus Cathedral, and take in the views from Charles Bridge.

You can fly from Krakow to Prague in 4.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a shuttle. Expect a daytime high around 26°C in June, and nighttime lows around 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly back home.
