Pakse

— 36 nights

Gateway to Southern Laos

Resting at the meeting point of the Se Don and Mekong rivers, Pakse provides the ideal starting point from which to begin your discovery of southern Laos.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Wat Phu and Wat Muang Kang Temple. Escape the urban bustle at Bolaven Plateau and Tad Pha Suam Waterfall. Get out of town with these interesting Pakse side-trips: Si Phan Don (in Don Loppadi), Champasak Town (Don Daeng Island, Champasak Pottery, &more) and Paksong (Mystic Mountain Coffee & Tad Fane). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Phu Salao, Golden Buddha, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Phou Asa Mountain, take in the views from Lao Nippon Bridge, and take in the dramatic scenery at Tad Yuang Waterfalls.

To see more things to do, maps, reviews, and tourist information, read our Pakse road trip planner.
