One of Europe's most relaxed and newest capital cities, Podgorica sits on the confluence of two rivers, with two sides of it offering two different options for exploring.
Explore Podgorica's surroundings by going to Virpazar (Virpazar Stone Bridge, Wine Tours & Tastings, &more), Cetinje (Miodrag Dado Djuric Art Gallery, Lovćen National Park, &more) and Ostrog Monastery (in Dabojevići). Getting from Podgorica to Ulcinj by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and taxi; or do a combination of bus and car. In May, daily temperatures in Ulcinj can reach 28°C, while at night they dip to 16°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) so you can go by car to Kotor.

Perched on the edge of a fjord-like bay rimmed by rugged mountains, Kotor grew around a medieval settlement purposely built like a maze.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kotor: Herceg-Novi (Monument to The King Tvrtko I, Savina Monastery, &more). And it doesn't end there: contemplate the waterfront views at Bay of Kotor, make a trip to Kotor Old City, browse the exhibits of Maritime Museum, and take in the waterfront at Porto Montenegro.

Drive from Ulcinj to Kotor in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Ulcinj in May, Kotor is a bit cooler at night with lows of 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Fri) early enough to drive to Žabljak.

Žabljak

A trip to Zabljak takes you to the north of the country, a mountainous region that's as steeped in great scenery and views as it is in history and culture.
Get out of town with these interesting Žabljak side-trips: Tara River Canyon (in Dobrilovina), Plužine (Lake Piva & Piva Canyon) and Hussein-Pahas Mosque (in Pljevlja). Spend the 15th (Tue) exploring nature at Biogradska Gora National Park. On the 17th (Thu), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Bobotov Kuk. There's lots more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Black Lake, hit the slopes at Savin Kuk Ski Resort, snap pictures at Đurđevića Tara Bridge, and see human ingenuity at work at Mratinje Dam.
