Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Fort William: Camusdarach Beach (in Arisaig), Morar Beach (in Morar) and Glenfinnan (Loch Shiel & Glenfinnan Viaduct). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Highland Titles Nature Reserve, enjoy some diversion at Ice Factor, see the sights as you ascend with a climbing tour, and admire the sheer force of Steall Waterfall.

Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.

Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. Get out of town with these interesting Durness side-trips: Kinlochbervie (Oldshoremore Beach & Sandwood Bay Beach) and Achmelvich Beach (in Lochinver).
