Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Taiwan Balloon Museum and Western Museum. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Lukang Wenwu Temple and Wanchungong. Venture out of the city with trips to Chung Hsing New Village Children's Park (in Nantou City) and Dapunei Marble Soda Museum (in Tongluo). The oldest city in the country, Tainan stood as the island's capital during feudal times.

Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Step off the beaten path and head to White Sand Bay and Dawan Kenting Beach Park. And it doesn't end there: kick back and relax at White Sand Bay, tour the pleasant surroundings at Little Bay Beach, get great views at Kenting Wanli Dong, and don't miss a visit to Guan Shan Fude Temple.

Xiulin

Xiulin Township or Sioulin Township is a mountain indigenous township of Hualien County, Taiwan. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Tzu Chi Foundation and Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail. Get a sense of the local culture at Xiangde Temple and Tianfeng Pagoda. Go for a jaunt from Xiulin to Xincheng to see Qixingtan Beach about 48 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take in the natural beauty of Wenshan Hot Spring, hike along Taroko Gorge, and make a trip to Chongde Bay.
