Though the town of Sagres has roots in the Portuguese Age of Discovery, it is better known by visitors as a peaceful, rugged resort spot with great surfing beaches.
You'll get in some beach time at Praia da Luz and Praia do Amado. Step off the beaten path and head to Cape Saint Vincent and Telheiro Beach. Step out of Sagres with an excursion to Praia Vale Dos Homens in Rogil--about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Praia do Zavial and tour the pleasant surroundings at Amado Beach.
