Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto will appeal to museum buffs. Visit Dazaifu Temmangu and Kumamoto Castle for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Fukuoka side-trips: Fukutsu (Miyajihama Beach & Fukuma Beach), Nijino Matsubara (in Karatsu) and Hikotto Land Marine Beach (in Shimonoseki).
