Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Popular historic sites such as Senso-ji Temple and Hie Jinjya are in your itinerary. Attractions like Hase-dera Temple and Tokyo National Museum make great kid-friendly stops. Step out of Tokyo to go to Kamakura and see Kōtoku-in, which is approximately 1h 20 min away. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Yakushima-cho in May, with highs in Iriomote-jima at °C and lows at °C.
