One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Explore Seoul's surroundings by going to DMZ Haemaru Village (in Paju) and Suwon (Seonamgangnu Pavilion, Hwaseong Fortress, &more). There's lots more to do: get great views at N Seoul Tower, take in the spiritual surroundings of Jongmyo Shrine, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Korea, and browse the exhibits of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Madison, USA to Seoul is an approximately 20-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Korean Standard Time, which is usually a 15 hour difference. Traveling from Madison in August, expect Seoul to be a bit warmer, temps between 86°F and 74°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Thu) so you can drive to Chuncheon.

The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Fri): take in nature's colorful creations at Jade Garden Natural Arboretum, then head off the coast to Nami Island, and then pause for some photo ops at Monument for the Participation of Canada in the Korean War. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cheongpyeongsa and then visit Kim You-jeong House of Literature.

You can drive from Seoul to Chuncheon in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a subway. August in Chuncheon sees daily highs of 86°F and lows of 74°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sat) to allow time to drive to Sokcho.

Tourism in Sokcho mostly revolves around the local national park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Step out of Sokcho to go to Inje-gun and see Baekdamsa Temple, which is approximately 50 minutes away. Spend the 16th (Sun) exploring nature at Seoraksan National Park. And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Bongpo Beach, take in the natural beauty of Cheoksan Foot Spa Park, take in the pleasant sights at Cheonjin Beach, and take in the dramatic scenery at Biryong Falls.

Traveling by car from Chuncheon to Sokcho takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Andong.

Sitting along either side of the Nakdong River, Andong maintains an unrivalled reputation as a center for Korean folk and cultural heritage.

While traveling from Andong, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Gyeongju, ranging from highs of 73°F to lows of 73°F.
