Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Peasholm Park and Whitby Abbey. When in York, make a side trip to see Whitby Harbour in Whitby, approximately 1h 20 min away. Spend the 2nd (Sun) exploring nature at Lake District National Park Guided Walks - Walks to Inspire. Pack the 4th (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at York Maze.
