The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.

Gwangju is the sixth largest city in South Korea. Change things up with these side-trips from Gwangju: Songgwangsa Temple (in Suncheon) and Unjusa (in Hwasun-gun). One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.

Take a train from Gwangju to Seoul in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. While traveling from Gwangju, expect somewhat warmer days and a bit cooler nights in Seoul, ranging from highs of 1°C to lows of -7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Chuncheon.
