Nowhere are the traditions of Brazil's African-background community as strong as in Salvador, the colorful, historical capital of Bahia state.

The capital of the state of Sergipe, Aracaju has developed a reputation as one of the most active, modern, and healthiest cities in the country.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Aracaju: Laranjeiras (Igreja Matriz Sagrado Coracao De Jesus, Museu Afro-Brasileiro de Sergipe, &more), Sao Cristovao (Christ The Redeemer & Praça São Francisco) and Estancia (Saco beach & Praia do Saco Dunes). Originally built as a sister city to neighboring Juazeiro, Petrolina has grown to become Pernambuco’s largest municipality.
Explore Petrolina's surroundings by going to Barragem de Sobradinho (in Sobradinho) and Vinicola Ouro Verde (in Casa Nova). And it doesn't end there: contemplate the waterfront views at Rio Sao Francisco, see the interesting displays at Sao Francisco Regional Foundation Museum, pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Nossa Senhora Rainha dos Anjos Matriz, and step off the mainland to explore Massangano Island.
