Riga Region forms the central part of Latvia, with the nation's capital at its heart. Half of the country's population lives in the area, with a large concentration in the city of Riga, the largest city in the Baltics. Founded in 1201, the capital earned World Heritage Status for its Art Nouveau architecture and 19th-century wooden buildings. Riga's skyline is dominated by church spires peeking above historical buildings. Explore the region more deeply by visiting the countryside and lesser-known towns like Limbazi, Tukums, Ogre, Jurmala, and Sigulda. As a transport hub of the country, this region links easily to others to continue your holiday in Latvia.
