Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Get outdoors at Yonehara Beach and Fusaki Beach. Cape Hirakubozaki and Ishigaki Yaima Village are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Spend the 13th (Tue) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. There's much more to do: stroll through Kondoi Beach, take in the exciting artwork at Nei Museum of Art, examine the collection at MInsah Kogei Museum, and explore the fascinating underground world of Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave.

Beirut, Lebanon to Ishigaki is an approximately 18-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern European Time (EET) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is 7 hours. In August, plan for daily highs up to 38°C, and evening lows to 32°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Thu) early enough to travel to Miyakojima.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
We've included these beaches for you: Yonaha Maehama Beach and Tomori Imugya Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Hora Gyoko no Hama Beach and Nagamahama Beach Coast. Traveling by combination of flight and train from Miyakojima to Hiroshima takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in August, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Fri) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Head to Dotonbori and Hashiya Kaedefor some retail therapy. Popular historic sites such as Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji are in your itinerary. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kyoto: Nara (Todai-ji Temple, Nara Park, & more) and Osaka Castle (in Osaka). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, see the interesting displays at Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, make a trip to Nishiki Market, and wander the streets of Gion.

Traveling by train from Hiroshima to Kyoto takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In August, daytime highs in Kyoto are 39°C, while nighttime lows are 29°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Thu) so you can catch the train to Numazu.

We've included these beaches for you: Otago Beach and Iwachi Beach. Get a sense of the local culture at Mount Fuji and The Hakone Open-Air Museum. Explore Numazu's surroundings by going to Izu (Wasabi Fields of Ikadaba, Toi Beach, & more), Goryuno Falls (in Susono) and Kumi Beach (in Matsuzaki-cho). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Ita Beach, take in the pleasant sights at Lake Kawaguchi, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Tagosehama Beach.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Numazu in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Kyoto in August, you will find days in Numazu are slightly colder (34°C), and nights are about the same (30°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) so you can travel to Tokyo.

Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Head to Ginza and Asakusafor plenty of shopping. Get a sense of the local culture at Odaiba and Tokyo National Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Ghibli Museum Mitaka (in Mitaka) and Moroiso Shores (in Miura).
