Museum-lovers will get to explore Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen. Take a break from the city and head to Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Venture out of the city with trips to Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple (in Eiheiji-cho), Maruoka Castle (in Sakai) and Natadera Temple (in Komatsu). Montreal, Canada to Kanazawa is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Montreal to Kanazawa, you'll lose 14 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Montreal in October, expect Kanazawa to be a bit warmer, temps between 24°C and 15°C. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Eikando Zenrinji Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get some historical perspective at Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Todai-ji Temple (in Nara), Himeji Castle (in Himeji) and Koyasan Okunoin (in Koya-cho). Getting from Kanazawa to Kyoto by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In October in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 27°C during the day and 18°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.
