The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Osaka (Osaka Castle & Dotonbori) and Universal Studios Japan (in Konohana). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take a stroll through Gion, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, and make a trip to Heian Shrine.

When in Ishigaki, make a side trip to see Canyoning & Rappelling Tours in Iriomote-jima, approximately 1h 55 min away. You can do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Hiroshima in April: high temperatures in Ishigaki hover around 78°F and lows are around 70°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) early enough to travel to Nagasaki.
