One of the oldest settlements in the Yangtze basin, Suzhou remains a complex, labyrinthine set of old canal districts, World Heritage gardens, and sprawling modern developments.
When in Suzhou, make a side trip to see Shaxi Ancient Town in Taicang, approximately Taicang away.
