The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Fishing Charters & Tours and Wave Lagoon. Get some cultural insight at Darwin Aviation Museum and Defence of Darwin Experience. Change things up with a short trip to Territory Wildlife Park in Berry Springs (about 42 minutes away). Spend the 29th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. And it doesn't end there: race across the water with a speed boat tour, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, and indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Broome Historical Museum and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Get outdoors at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Broome Bird Observatory. Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Family-friendly places like Greens Pool and Nanarup Beach will thrill your kids. You'll get in some beach time at Cable Beach and Mandalay Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Albany side-trips: Denmark (Forest Hill Vineyard & Moombaki Wines) and Tree Top Walk (in Walpole). Spend the 13th (Sat) observing fascinating marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at National Anzac Centre, take in the exciting artwork at Blush Retail Gallery, and explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge.
