Explore hidden gems such as Taipei Confucius Temple and Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area. Your inner history buff will appreciate Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) and Wulai. Get out of town with these interesting Taipei side-trips: Keelung Harbor (in Zhongzheng District), Fulung Beach (in Gongliao) and Wuling Farm (in Heping District). You can do a combination of bus and flight from Penghu to Taipei in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry, bus, and train; or do a combination of ferry, bus, and train. In November in Taipei, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 22°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Mon) to allow time to fly to Taitung.

Sitting between the mountains and the sea, Taitung offers pleasing scenery no matter what direction you face.
Get in touch with nature at Sanxiantai and Guanshan Bicycle Path. Discover out-of-the-way places like National Museum of Prehistory and Green Island Lighthouse. There's still lots to do: step off the mainland to explore Green Island, enjoy the sand and surf at Nuwalian, explore the landscape on two wheels at Taitung Bicycle Road, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tianhou Temple.

You can fly from Taipei to Taitung in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Sun) so you can travel to Pingtung.

Pingtung

Mostly serving as a base for exploring Kenting National Park, Pingtung enjoys a pleasant, subtropical climate, sandy beaches, and a friendly atmosphere.
Discover out-of-the-way places like National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and White Sand Bay. Visit Anping Fort (Anping gubao) and Confucius Temple for their historical value. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Pingtung: Chimei Museum (in Rende), National Museum of Taiwan History (in Annan) and West Central District (Da Tian Hou Gong & Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia)). Nantou provides good access to the cultural and natural sites of the surrounding county of the same name.
Get outdoors at Lintienshan Forestry Culture Park and Sun Moon Lake Bikeway. Museum-lovers will get to explore National Museum of Natural Science and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. Change things up with these side-trips from Nantou: Lukang (Lugang Longshan Temple & Lukang), Gaomei Wetland (in Qingshui) and A Mei Wenhua Village (in Ji'an). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Wenwu Temple, take in the awesome beauty at Wuling, take in nature's colorful creations at Jinzhen Gargens, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Jiji Wuchanggong.

You can drive from Pingtung to Nantou in 2.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi and train; or do a combination of taxi, train, and bus. November in Nantou sees daily highs of 30°C and lows of 20°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
