Lima
— 29 nights

City of the Kings
Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.Discover out-of-the-way places like Basilica y Monasterio de Santo Domingo and Reserva Nacional Lomas de Lachay. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like San Isidro and Iglesia de las Nazarenas. Explore Lima's surroundings by going to Callao (Fortaleza real felipe, Palomino, &more), Chancay (Castillo de Chancay & Museo Municipal de Chancay) and Lurin (Ichimay Wari & InOutlet). There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at MALI - Museo de Arte de Lima, examine the collection at Museo del Automovil Coleccion Nicolin, get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and take an in-depth tour of AMANO, Museo Textil Precolombino.
For more things to do, ratings, other places to visit, and more tourist information, read Lima attractions site.
If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Jorge Chávez International Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to 67°F, and evening lows to 60°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
