Not overly touristy, Holguin offers a different perspective on Cuban life, standing as a major city that doesn't seek to commercialize its past or cover itself in all inclusive resorts.
Relax by the water at Guardalavaca Beach and Playa Blanca. Get some cultural insight at Bateria de Fernando VII and St. Isidore Cathedral. Step out of Holguin to go to Guardalavaca and see Las Guanas Eco-Archaeologic Trail, which is approximately 1h 05 min away. There's more to do: explore the striking landscape of Parque Monumento Nacional Bariay and take in the spiritual surroundings of San Jose Church (Iglesia de San Jose).
