Yatsushiro is a city located in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.As of March 31, 2017, the city has an estimated population of 129,358 and a population density of 190 persons per km2. Your inner history buff will appreciate Shimabara Castle and Aoiaso Shrine. Do some cultural sightseeing at Gamadasu Dome (Mt. Unzen Disaster Memorial Hall) and Amakusa Christian Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Yatsushiro side-trips: Hitoyoshi (Kumagawa Rail Road & Hitoyoshi Rail Museum Mozoca Station 868), Maruoyaki (in Amakusa) and Onsen Resorts (in Unzen). There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Yatsushiro Castle Remains and take in the views from Amakusa Gokyo Bridge.
