Tsuruoka, famous for its scenic surroundings, attracts tourists due to its proximity to the Dewa Sanzan, sacred mountains revered by the Shugendo religion.
You've now added Mt. Haguro to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 14th (Thu): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Sakata is a city located in Yamagata Prefecture, in the Tohoku region of northern Japan.As of October 2015, the city has an estimated population of 105,022 and a population density of 174 persons per km². Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): get outside with Shonai Airport Green Space, then see the interesting displays at Marine Center, then enjoy the sea views from Wooden Hexagonal Lighthouse, and finally take an in-depth tour of Sakata City Museum.
