Philosopher Cicero once described Syracuse as "the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all." A powerful city-state of ancient Greece, Syracuse now is the capital of the eponymous Italian province on the eastern coast of Sicily.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Centro Storico and Ortigia. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Syracuse: Portopalo di Capo Passero (Scialai Comfort Beach Cafe & Spiaggia Carratois) and Spiaggia Calamosche (in Noto). There's still lots to do: explore the ancient world of Teatro Greco, enjoy the sand and surf at Spiaggia Fontane Bianche, explore the fascinating underground world of Ear of Dionysius (Orecchio di Dionisio), and pause for some serene contemplation at Duomo di Siracusa.

If you are flying in from Turkey, the closest major aiports are Catania-Fontanarossa Airport and Comiso Airport. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
