Durango

— 2 nights
Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at The Anasazi Heritage Center and Farmington Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Notah Dineh Trading Company and Museum (in Cortez) and Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum (in Mesa Verde National Park). The adventure continues: contemplate the waterfront views at Animas River, hike along Rim Trail/ Campus Loop, get a taste of the local shopping with Toh-Atin Gallery, and do a tasting at Four Leaves Winery.
