Trails of Legends and Adventures

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Venture out of the city with trips to Dry Falls (in Highlands), River Rafting & Tubing (in Bryson City) and Macon County Historical Society and Museum (in Franklin). There's still lots to do: try to win big at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee, take in the awesome beauty at Clingmans Dome, look for gifts at The What's Hot Shop, and admire the sheer force of Mingo Falls.

For other places to visit, traveler tips, reviews, and tourist information, refer to the Cherokee trip itinerary builder tool.

In March, daily temperatures in Cherokee can reach 59°F, while at night they dip to 34°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
