— 2 nights
Aarau is a town, a municipality, and the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Aargau. Get out of town with these interesting Aarau side-trips: Skulpturenpark Bruno Weber (in Spreitenbach) and Thermalbad Zurzach (in Bad Zurzach). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Aargauer Kunsthaus, step into the grandiose world of Hallwyl Castle, look for gifts at Pauli Papeterie + Spielwaren AG, and try to win big at Grand Casino Baden.

To see where to stay, ratings, and more tourist information, read Aarau trip itinerary site.

Geneva to Aarau is an approximately 3-hour car ride. September in Aarau sees daily highs of 23°C and lows of 11°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Thu) so you can travel back home.

Relaxation and tranquillity await you at the Canton of Aargau, best known for its hot sulphur and saline springs. The pile-dwellings of Beinwil am See and Seengen, both World Heritage Sites, evidence prehistoric settlements of the Neolithic and Bronze Age, while the villages of Endingen and Lengnau served as the country's Jewish ghetto in the 17th century. The region's heavily wooded plateau interlaced with rivers features plenty of ruined castles, fortresses, and old museums to peak your interest. Tour through local vineyards by foot or bike, or wash your worries away at the famed thermal spas.
