One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Temple of Hephaestus and Mount Lycabettus. Get out of town with these interesting Athens side-trips: Temple of Poseidon (in Sounio) and Akti Vouliagmenis (in Vouliagmeni). There's still lots to do: pause for some photo ops at Erechtheion, delve into the distant past at Temple of Athena Nike, steep yourself in history at Ancient Agora of Athens, and wander the streets of Monastiraki.
