Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Kids will appreciate attractions like Camusdarach Beach and Morar Beach. Explore Fort William's surroundings by going to Camas an Lighe (Singing Sands) (in Gorteneorn), Glenfinnan Viaduct (in Glenfinnan) and Highland Titles Nature Reserve (in Duror). There's lots more to do: shake up your sightseeing with a climbing tour, admire the verdant scenery at Glen Coe, make a trip to Neptune's Staircase, and take in the dramatic scenery at Steall Waterfall.

Lochinver is a village on the coast in the Assynt district of Sutherland, Highland, Scotland. Kids will appreciate attractions like Achmelvich Beach and Clachtoll Beach Campsite. Get out of town with these interesting Lochinver side-trips: RhueArt (in Rhue), Ullapool (Corrieshalloch Gorge, The Bone Caves, & more) and Bealach na Ba Viewpoint (in Applecross). Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. Bring the kids along to Sandwood Bay Beach and Durness Beach. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Durness: Handa Island Wildlife Reserve (in Handa Island) and Kinlochbervie (Polin Beach & Oldshoremore Beach).
