Bring the kids along to Ponshukan Niigata Station and Befco Bakauke Observatory Room. Explore Niigata's surroundings by going to Yahiko-mura (Yahiko Park & Yahiko Shrine). There's lots more to do: stop by Pia Bandai, enjoy the sand and surf at Nishikaigan Park, stroll around Hakusan Park, and meet the residents at Marinepia Nihonkai.

The small town of Myoko, nestled between five mountain peaks, attracts skiing and winter-sport enthusiasts with its famed resorts and abundant snowfall.
Kids will enjoy Suginohara and Myoko Kogen. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Myoko: Joetsu (Kasugayama Shrine, Kasugayama Castle Ruins, &more). There's much more to do: get outside with Akakura Onsen Ski Area, explore the historical opulence of Joetsu Takada Castle triple turret, fly down the slopes at Akakan Ski Area, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Jokoji Temple.

It takes just over one hour to reach Yuzawa-machi from the country's capital by bullet train.
Attractions like Iwappara Ski Resort and Ponshukan make great kid-friendly stops. Go for a jaunt from Yuzawa-machi to Tsunan-machi to see Mikura Bridge about 1h 5 min away. There's much more to do: fly down the slopes at Naeba Ski Resort, make a trip to Okukiyo Powerhouse, see the interesting displays at Yukiguni-kan, and head outdoors with Kagura Ski Resort.
