The largely Garifuna town of Livingston sits at the mouth of a river flowing out into the sea.
Explore Livingston's surroundings by going to Catedral de La Inmaculada Concepcion (in Puerto Barrios) and Playa Sand Bay (in Izabal). There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Rio Dulce, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Blanca, and take in the dramatic scenery at Seven Altars.

Kick off your visit on the 26th (Thu): Head underground at Lanquin Caves and then get outside with Aventura Grande. Explore Quetzaltenango's surroundings by going to Totonicapan (Iglesia San Andres Xecul & San Andres Xecul), San Andres Xecul Church (in San Andres Xecul) and Fuentes Georginas (in Zunil). Spend the 1st (Wed) exploring nature at Cerro El Baul. There's much more to do: contemplate the geological forces at Santa Maria Volcano, make a trip to Central Plaza, pause for some photo ops at Teatro Municipal de Quetzaltenango, and indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour.
