Areni
Areni is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. Explore Areni's surroundings by going to Gladzor University Historical-Cultural Museum-Reservation (in Vernashen), Yeghegis (Tsakhats Kar Monastery & Zorats Church) and Jermuk Waterfall (in Jermuk). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Noravank Monastery, learn about winemaking at Old Bridge Winery, take in the dramatic natural features at Armaghan Mountain, and make a trip to Vorotnavank Monastery.

Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia, survived a turbulent history and a devastating earthquake in 1988.
Get out of town with these interesting Gyumri side-trips: Muslim Cemetery (in Zorakert), Mastara Church (in Mastara) and Lmbatavank Church (in Artik). There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Aragats, explore the activities along Lake Arpi, explore the world behind art at Mher Mkrtchyan Museum, and pause for some serene contemplation at Talin Cathedral.

Traveling from Gyumri in September, expect Yerevan to be a bit warmer, temps between 34°C and 16°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
