Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Centro Historico de Lima and Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco. Do some cultural sightseeing at Miraflores and San Pedro Church (Iglesia de San Pedro). Take a break from Lima with a short trip to El Canon de Austisha in Huarochiri, about 2 hours away. There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco, explore the world behind art at Museo Marina Nunez Del Prado, glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

Paris, France to Lima is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. The time zone difference moving from Central European Time (CET) to Peru Time (PET) is minus 6 hours. Expect a bit warmer temperatures when traveling from Paris in May; daily highs in Lima reach 26°C and lows reach 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to drive to Paracas.

A port town largely devoted to tourism, Paracas serves as a popular starting point for exploration of Peru's south coast.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): explore the activities along Lake Titicaca, head off the coast to Taquile Island, and then get great views at Mirador Ing. Eduardo Sanchez. Traveling by car from Arequipa to Puno takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Arequipa in May, plan for a bit cooler nights in Puno, with lows around -1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Cusco.
