Situated in the center of the island, Furano has become known for its idyllic rural landscape, and the drastic changes it experiences as seasons shift.
Royce' Chocolate World and Obihiro Shrine are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Discover out-of-the-way places like Asahi-dake and Patchwork no Michi. Dammam, Saudi Arabia to Furano is an approximately 21.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Arabia Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is 6 hours. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Dammam in July, with highs in Furano at 30°C and lows at 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Sat) so you can drive to Noboribetsu.

Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
Visit Shizukari Beach and Itanki Beach for some beach relaxation. Kids will appreciate attractions like Furusato Beach and Denshin Beach. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Noboribetsu: Lake Shikotsu (in Chitose), Tomakomai (Lake Utonai Wildlife Conservation Center, Lake Utonai Sanctuary, & more) and Utasai Beech Forests (in Kuromatsunai-cho). There's still lots to do: take in the natural beauty of Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath, explore the activities along Lake Toya, identify plant and animal life at Kiushito Wetland, and get engrossed in the history at Memorial Pavilion of Hakucho Huge Bridge.

Drive from Furano to Noboribetsu in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. When traveling from Furano in July, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Noboribetsu: temperatures range from 26°C by day to 19°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can travel to Kyoto.

You can fly from Noboribetsu to Kyoto in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight and bus. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Noboribetsu in July: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 37°C and lows are around 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Takamatsu.
