Hyères, Provençal Occitan: Ieras in classical norm, or Iero in Mistralian norm) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France.The old town lies 4km from the sea clustered around the Castle of Saint Bernard, which is set on a hill. Step out of the city life by going to Plage de Cabasson and Plage de Cavaliere. Venture out of the city with trips to Foret de Roustagnon (in Bandol) and Ecuries d'Entrecolles (in Bormes-Les-Mimosas). There's still lots to do: stroll through Sentier Jean Francois Jube, see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, hike along Sentier du Littoral de la Presqu'ile de Giens, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Eglise Saint-Francois de Sales.
