Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Tue): see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center and then stop by Shamaan Design - Lappi Shop. Keep things going the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Ruijanpolku Trail, then wander the wide-open spaces of Saariselka Reindeer Farm, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel.

Joensuu to Saariselka is an approximately 6.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Joensuu in December, with highs in Saariselka at -7°C and lows at -17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Wed) so you can travel to Levi.

Kick off your visit on the 31st (Thu): explore the landscape on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Fri): get in on the family fun at Levi Huskypark, join the crowd at Icekarting Levi, then experience rural life at Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm, and finally don't miss a visit to Giewont Husky Adventures.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
