Mt. Kurama and Rokuen are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Kurama-dera and Enryaku-ji Daikodo. Go for a jaunt from Kyoto to Nara to see Kofuku-ji Temple about 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Daigo-ji Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Shoren-in Temple (Shoren-in Monzeki), look for all kinds of wild species at Yase Momiji no Komichi, and explore the activities along Kamogawa River.

Mont Tremblant, Canada to Kyoto is an approximately 29-hour combination of car and flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is 14 hours. When traveling from Mont Tremblant in April, plan for somewhat warmer days in Kyoto, with highs around 22°C, while nights are much hotter with lows around 11°C.
