Valletta

— 26 nights

Most Proud

Malta's capital city, Valletta preserves most of its medieval architecture, built in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Knights Hospitaller, once a powerful military order.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Valletta: Qawra (Malta National Aquarium & Malta Classic Car Collection Museum), Hornblower Cruises (in Bugibba) and Mellieha (Our Lady of the Grotto, Mellieha Beach, &more). There's still lots to do: witness the site of a historic battle at Lascaris War Rooms, take a leisurely stroll along Valletta Waterfront, get thoroughly spooked out with Colour My Travel, and take in nature's colorful creations at Lower Barrakka Gardens.

To find more things to do, where to stay, maps, and tourist information, you can read our Valletta travel planner.

In October, plan for daily highs up to 30°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Mon) so you can travel back home.

Island of Malta travel guide

4.1
Historic Walking Areas · Architectural Buildings · Gardens
As the largest island in the country, Island of Malta is a center for Mediterranean discovery, luxurious relaxation, historical exploration, and buzzing European nightlife. Surrounded by ancient temples and old cities, the island almost feels like an archaeological site that's been converted into a prime vacation spot. Tourists flock here for the aquamarine waters of the Mediterranean Sea, but you don't have to spend all your time on the beach. With a plethora of activities for any type of traveler, you may find yourself exploring a national museum, admiring the collections of boats and yachts in the bays, or people-watching in one of the many bustling squares.
