As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at St. Michael's Church and Deutsches Auswandererhaus. Visit Speicherstadt and St. Petri zu Lubeck for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hamburg: Marienkirche (in Lubeck) and Weltvogelpark Walsrode (in Walsrode). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Alter Elbtunnel, browse the fresh offerings at Wochenmarkt am Goldbekufer, and catch a concert at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

Santiago, Chile to Hamburg is an approximately 20.5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight, bus, and train. Step off the beaten path and head to Castello Sforzesco and Piazza del Duomo. Visit Duomo di Milano and Certosa di Pavia for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Eremo di S. Caterina del Sasso (in Leggiuno), Castello di Vezio (in Vezio) and Sacro Monte Unesco di Varese (in Varese).
