The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Step out of Cartagena to go to Isla Baru and see Playa Blanca, which is approximately 1h 5 min away. Next up on the itinerary: explore the historical opulence of Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, meet the residents at Oceanario, contemplate the long history of Walled City of Cartagena, and see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Paris, France to Cartagena is an approximately 16.5-hour combination of train and flight. Founded in 1842, the town of Salento represents the oldest established settlement in Quindio.
Explore Salento's surroundings by going to Los Nevados National Park (in La Estrella) and Maderitas Jugueteria (in Filandia). There's much more to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Bosques de Cocora, appreciate the views at Valle del Cocora, push the limits with an extreme tour, and look for all kinds of wild species at Kasaguadua Natural Reserve.
