Originally a small fishing village, Portimão today serves as one of the most populated towns in the Algarve and also a favorite spot for sailing.
Step out of the city life by going to Joao de Arens Beach and Praia Do Submarino. Visit Tres Castelos Beach and Praia de Albandeira for some beach relaxation. Change things up with these side-trips from Portimao: Praia de Santa Eulalia (in Albufeira), Praia da Falesia (in Faro) and Praia do Barranco das Belharucas (in Olhos de Agua). There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Vau Beach, Head underground at Algar de Benagil, putt your heart out at Adventure Golf Alvor, and stroll through Molhe Beach.

Though the town of Sagres has roots in the Portuguese Age of Discovery, it is better known by visitors as a peaceful, rugged resort spot with great surfing beaches.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Tue): kick back and relax at Praia Boca Do Rio, then stroll through Burgau Beach, then take in the waterfront at Porto da Baleeira, and finally stroll through Mareta Beach.
