The thousands of temples at Bagan rise up from the plain, each with their own history, style, and spiritual meaning.
Get in touch with nature at Mt Popa and Shwe-gyu-gyi. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sulamani Guphaya Temple and Dhammayangyi Temple. There's much more to do: explore the ancient world of Bagan Temples, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shwezigon Paya, steep yourself in history at Shwesandaw Pagoda, and revel in the low prices at Shwe La Yaung Lacquerware Shop.

Built on a large scale by a king needing to impress and rebuild after defeat in battle, Mandalay deserves exploration.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Bagaya Monastery and Maha Myat Muni Pagoda- Mahamuni Buddha Temple. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Dolphin & Whale Watching and Shwe In Bin Monastry. Step out of Mandalay to go to Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo) and see Peik Chin Myaung Cave, which is approximately 1h 50 min away. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Golden Palace Monastery (Shwenandaw Kyaung), make a trip to Kuthodaw Pagoda & the World's Largest Book, admire the landmark architecture of Pahtodawgyi Pagoda, and steep yourself in history at Mandalay Palace.

You can drive from Bagan to Mandalay in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and flight; or take a train. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 19th (Fri) so you can go by car to Hsipaw.

Dawei is a city in south-eastern Myanmar and is the capital of the Tanintharyi Region, formerly known as the Tenasserim Division, about 614.3km south of Yangon on the northern bank of the Dawei River. Kick off your visit on the 25th (Thu): take in the spiritual surroundings of Lawka Tharaphu Pagoda and then kick back and relax at Grandfather Beach. On your second day here, tour the pleasant surroundings at Maungmagan Beach and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Myaw Yit Pagoda.

Getting from Naypyidaw to Dawei by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Fri) so you can travel to Yangon (Rangoon).
