Detroit, USA to Paris is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of train and flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Central European Time (CET), which is usually a 6 hour difference. Traveling from Detroit in July, plan for slightly colder nights in Paris, with lows around 60°F. On the 20th (Sat), you're off toCaen.

On the 20th (Sat), contemplate the long history of La GlaciereSouterraine, pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Saint-Pierre, make a trip to Hotel D'Escoville, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Eglise Saint-Jean, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Saint Etienne.

Traveling by train from Paris to Caen takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In July, Caen is a bit cooler than Paris - with highs of 72°F and lows of 55°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) so you can go by car to Bayeux.
