Visit the city of Dubbo, the most populous urban area in the Orana Region, for an exciting and thriving multicultural city from which to explore the surrounding Great Western Plains.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Dundullimal Homestead and Baker Williams Distillery. Get out of town with these interesting Dubbo side-trips: Tiger Bay Wetlands (in Warren), Orange (Orange Regional Museum, Swinging Bridge, &more) and Mudgee (The Olive Nest & 1838 Wines, Distillery Tours, &more). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Old Dubbo Gaol, examine the collection at The Henry Parkes Centre, explore the activities along Maquarie River, and don't miss a visit to Terramungamine Reserve and Rock Grooves.

Sydney to Dubbo is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Traveling from Sydney in June, expect a bit cooler with lows of 5°C in Dubbo. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Mon) so you can travel to Cobar.

Cobar

Cobar is a town in central western New South Wales, Australia. Discover out-of-the-way places like Great Cobar Heritage Centre and Cobar Miners Heritage Park. Explore Cobar's surroundings by going to Nyngan (Helicopter Flood Memorial & Nyngan Museum) and Bourke (Bourke Historic Cemetery, Back O'Bourke Visitor Information & Exhibition Centre, &more). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Mount Grenfell Historic Site, don't miss a visit to Commonwealth Meteorological Station, head outdoors with Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool, and get great views at Fort Bourke Hill Lookout, Peak Gold Mines.

Traveling by car from Dubbo to Cobar takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In June, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Fri) so you can drive back home.
