Visit the city of Dubbo, the most populous urban area in the Orana Region, for an exciting and thriving multicultural city from which to explore the surrounding Great Western Plains.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Dundullimal Homestead and Red Earth Estate. Get out of town with these interesting Dubbo side-trips: Orange (Orange Regional Museum, Swinging Bridge, &more), Tiger Bay Wetlands (in Warren) and Mudgee (The Olive Nest & 1838 Wines, Distillery Tours, &more). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Old Dubbo Gaol, take in nature's colorful creations at Shoyoen Japanese Garden, see the interesting displays at The Henry Parkes Centre, and don't miss a visit to Alladins Cave Bottle House.

Sydney to Dubbo is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Traveling from Sydney in June, expect slightly colder with lows of 5°C in Dubbo. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can travel to Cobar.

Cobar is a town in central western New South Wales, Australia. Discover out-of-the-way places like Great Cobar Heritage Centre and Cobar Miners Heritage Park. Explore Cobar's surroundings by going to Bourke (Bourke Historic Cemetery, Back O'Bourke Visitor Information & Exhibition Centre, &more) and Nyngan (Helicopter Flood Memorial & Nyngan Museum). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Mount Grenfell Historic Site, head outdoors with Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool, get great views at Fort Bourke Hill Lookout, Peak Gold Mines, and make a trip to Commonwealth Meteorological Station.

You can drive from Dubbo to Cobar in 3.5 hours. Another option is to drive. In July, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) so you can go by car back home.
